Health and Disease Research
Publication Fees
Health and Disease Research is an open-access journal. Published articles are freely available online to readers without subscription or pay-per-view charges. The journal incurs costs associated with manuscript handling, peer review administration, editorial work, production, online publication, long-term preservation, and maintenance of the scholarly record. The Article Processing Charge (APC) helps cover these publication costs.
When is the fee payable? The APC is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication. There is no fee for submitting a manuscript, and editorial decisions are not determined by an author's ability to pay.
Article Processing Charge for Health and Disease Research is $600 USD
Waiver for eligible countries
A 50% APC waiver is available to authors from countries classified by the World Bank as Low-Income Economies or Lower-Middle-Income Economies. For eligible authors, the APC is $300 USD after the waiver. Eligibility is determined using the World Bank country classification. Authors seeking the waiver should identify their eligibility when submitting the manuscript and may be asked to provide supporting information.
Sources of APC funding
Authors are responsible for arranging payment of the APC when a manuscript is accepted. Payment may be covered by a research funder, the author's institution, an open-access publishing fund, or another supporting organisation. Authors are encouraged to check with their funders or institutions to determine whether publication costs can be covered.
